Repair our future
So why repair? Waste and especially electrical waste is a big problem and causes local and international problems around the world, as ActForEaling Cut the Crap exhibition illustrates.
Every time you spend money you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want. To get things repaired is an easy solution to our mountains of waste. By volunteering you are helping people keep their small electrical items going for longer.

Did you know in the UK, we discard 155,000 tonnes of electricals every year?
Majority of these items could be reused or recycled. This e-waste poses a major threat to the environment, wildlife and to human health. The UK ranks second to Norway in the most e-waste produced a 2022 study has found.
Ealing Repair Café
We have been going since 2019. We started with the ambition to do all types of repairs and hoped other repairers would join us. Up to now they have been able to get volunteers interested in repairing clothing and textile items at our events. We are open to other repairers joining us and promoting their repair skills.

Our first get together was on 5 February 2019 at Northfields Community centre in the smallest room with about 4 people. After the pandemic we found new locations around Ealing and now we have multiple locations, see What’s on for our upcoming dates.
Ealing Repair Café runs friendly monthly gatherings around Ealing for clothes repair. It would be great if one a month could include electrical repair. So reach out to ealingrepaircafe@gmail.com if you are interested and want to find out more.
Ealing Repair have a following and have a popular Facebook page of over 1.1k followers and a mailing list of just under 350 subscribers, sign up here. So we have a great audience to promote electrical repair sessions to.

Hi, will the repair cafes be accepting electronics for repair at any point in the future?

Sadly with not enough volunteers coming forward we can’t predict when we will be able to run sessions for electronics. We really hope that this inspires some people to volunteer with us.
In the meantime, please look at Restart parties that run nearby that you can take small electricals for repair.
